The Challenge

Coastal communities in Eastern Africa depend on mangrove ecosystems for employment, livelihood, and nutrition. Unprecedented urbanisation has led to mangrove forests being converted to other land uses, threatening the livelihoods of impoverished communities and pushing them further into poverty.

Our Solution

With your support, we contribute to the restoration of mangrove forests through a verified planting project led by our partners in Kenya. This project, delivered by our implementation partners, empowers impoverished coastal communities to break the poverty cycle by restoring the mangrove estuary, which is rich in biodiversity. The restored forests provide fishing grounds, create additional income streams, and help stabilise coastlines during tropical storms.
